This is a truly marvelous tomesode, as it features one of the most famous sights in Japan - Kinkakuji, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After being burned down a few decades ago, Kinkakuji was rebuilt and a layer of gold thicker than ever placed there before was put around the temple. Since then, it has become one of the most popular sights in all of Japan for tourists from all across the world. (It's also about ten minutes away from our office.)
You can see that there is highly detailed painting done, as every single little leaf was placed there by expert kimono artists. It gives you a very special feeling to hold the fabric in your hand and touch the thick paint placed there decades ago.
This one also has a hiyoku, which is the extra thick layer of fabric at the bottom, which adds extra protection to the outer layer.
